Read about my project to spiff up my old Craftsman 113 Table Saw. Turning old computer into a NAS New kitchen gadget - a Vortex Pro Air Fryer Oven. My Can Crusher to make more space in recycle bin. Soft hardware: My mask to use when grogery shopping. Bluetooth Adapter to turn wired mouse into wireless mouse. Logitech MX Keys wireless keyboard My latest new gadget is a NETGEAR RAX200 router (the old one got really flaky, so I decided to replace it). A new kitchen fad: Immersion Circulator My DIY TV Wall Mount, which I use with my Firestick to turn the old TV into a smart TV. I made this Laundry Cart to solve an earth shattering problem :-). I have a new NUC to use as a media PC. Oh No! I have succumbed to a fad! I've just bought an Instant Pot. To go with the 4K TV I needed a Oppo UDP-203 Ultra HD Player Newest toy is the LG OLED 55B6P TV (4K, of course). I foolishly got a new high end Harmony Elite remote (but setup hasn't improved over the years). For amazon prime day I got a cheap Fire Tablet and installed CyanogenMod. My latest new gadget is an ASUS RT-AC5300 router. I'm starting a new Core XY Project to try building a printer from scratch. New toy! A Matter and Form 3d Scanner. Pixels! I need more pixels! My latest toy is a Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR. Got tired of antique phone and got a Google Nexus 5 which will finally get me regular android updates. In a fit of insanity, I ordered a Solidoodle 2 3D printer. We'll see if I can do anything useful with it when it arrives... Just got a VeraLite home automation controller to play with. In a purely mechanical hardware diversion, I've modded my treadmill to add a shelf where my silly dyson fan can sit, along with some speakers I can plug into my Nexus 7 tablet. Well, I couldn't resist having a better android camera for development of my camera app, so I went and bought a Samsung Galaxy Camera, and I have a comparison of the Samsung and Nikon up now. My desire to do Android development on the latest and greatest version of Android happened to match the Google announcement of the Nexus 7 tablet, so I ordered one. I just whipped out a 5 minute Wi-Fi booster as my latest hardware project. I've now started fooling around with the arduino microcontroller. An HD Antenna is my latest hardware project. My latest project is to build my own book scanner. This is currently a work in progress, and in fact without ever finishing the first project, I abandoned it and started on the new Android based book scanner, and now my Nikon COOLPIX S800c camera has arrived. The Intercept is now obsolete as well, and I have a Motorola Triumph these days. All the phone stuff below is now obsolete. I've just gotten a new Samsung Intercept to replace my old phone, so the custom ring amplifier no longer fits and has been retired. In my hope to have access to Wi-Fi for my phone in more places, I'm looking at RTL8192cu AP mode in linux for a cheap USB dongle. My first hardware contribution to the web was this investigation of the RS-232 connection for COM2 on my Asus P4C800E motherboard. Next came the insane tale of the cell phone ring notifier. That was followed quickly by the Mark II ring notifier. I also have a description of my totally silent computer Zooty (no real hardware design on my part, but I put together hardware to build it). Here is a review of my Harmony 628 universal remote. And here is a review of my Zino HD home theater PC. diNovo Mini and Linux is the description of my Logitech diNovo mini keyboard and getting it to work on linux. Inspired by MythBusters, I designed my own Death Ray (doesn't work in this small size - I'm thinking maybe the next prototype will use a garbage can lid and suction, not inflation :-). Here is a subwoofer that blowed up on me. |
