Monitor HooksTime to clean up the clutter on the table where I have my printer. This project is printing hooks to hang off the monitor and stash the power bricks for both the monitor and the computer. Here the computer brick is finished and the first hook for the monitor power brick is in place (while the 2nd hook prints): Modeling the shape of the top of the monitor was a bit of a pain. The technique that finally worked was using a contour gauge on the monitor, locking it, then scanning the gauge and picking off the shape in gimp. That was converted to an svg file and imported into OpenSCAD (whew!). The resulting hooks seem to fit well without rattling around. I finished printing the last hook for the monitor's power brick and installed it: Now I want to print a hook to hold wires, but I'm almost out of blue filament, so this one will probably be blue and white: Yep, got about 2/3 of the way through printing the wire holder and had to put in a new reel of filament, but it holds wires just as well in two colors as it would in one, so now the power bricks and wires are up and out of the way (hopefully the first of lots of clutter to clear up in this vicinity). |
