American Independents
|
|
This web site is dedicated to eradicating the
scourge of republicans and democrats who have brought
the country to the brink of ruin. It is time to try
something new, and this site aims to connect donors
with independent candidates so independents can raise
enough money to be taken seriously, win elections, and
replace all the republicans and democrats lock stock
and barrel from local to state to national office.
I'd love to have a political cartoon to go here
with a donkey and elephant tied to a stake over a
nice pile of kindling and firewood, captioned "Got a match?".
Unfortunately my artistic skills are even lower than the
current credibility of republicans and democrats.

Find candidates you wish to support.
Browse all candidates.
Search geographically.
Search by office sought.
etc...
(If this wasn't just a prototype, there would be a search form here).
Why vote for an independent candidate?
Let's face it, the republicans and democrats have worked
their way down to negative credibility. We have to try something
else, or we all fall into the classic definition of insanity —
doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
This web site was created following the artifical debt limit crisis
of 2011 where democrats and republicans finally reached the lowest point in
history (at that point, it seems certain they will eventually go even lower).
The hope is that this site can help promote independent
candidates who have not sacrificed any portion of their brains
to mindless dogma or pledges to behave robotically rather than
applying their powers of human reason on behalf of their constituents.
Should any of the independent candidates actually gain
some measure of success via the support provided here, you will no doubt
be lectured about how the independent stands no chance and will
draw votes away from the saint and let the devil win the election.
Just remember that you won't get anything different from either
the saint or the devil, but you just might get change with the
independent, and if everyone remembers that, the independent will
draw enough votes from both the saint and the devil to actually win.
Hopefully, in the future, children will come home after a history class and ask their parents
what republicans and democrats were. Our goal is to replace
all democrats and rebublicans at every level of elected office
and permanently relegate them to the dustbin of history.
If this wasn't a prototype, this would bring up a link where
you could submit ideas about how to do things. Ideas you hope
candidates might steal (or your own ideas if you happen to
be a candidate).
You could also browse ideas looking for ones you like and
rating them, as well as find candidates who like the same ideas
you like.
In a perfect world it would be a really nifty forum where
it is possible to let good ideas to bubble to the top and
let all the hate and name calling drift down to the bottom
and be ignored (just not sure how to achieve that, heck
maybe that sort of thing is what google+ circles can do?).
Here is where we need to have a form for voters to provide
feedback for ideas to improve the web site, or describe things
that aren't working right for them.
Here will be the form candidates use to register with the
web site, point to their own official website, say which
office they are running for, when the election takes place, etc.
Why should you run as an independent rather than a democrat or
republican?
I remember Mikhail Gorbachev on his speaking tour after
the fall of the Soviet Union. He would talk about how he
still believed in the Communist party, how it merely needed
to be brushed up a little and get a lick of paint, and it
would be good as new.
I thought that self delusion was one of the saddest things I ever
heard.
After the last few decades of performance from the republicans and
democrats, shame should be the only proper reaction to wearing those
party labels. An entirely artifical debt limit crisis was genned up in
2011, all in the name of blind ideological purity. This purity only
cost everyone's retirement funds billions in stock market losses, with
more billions to come as America's credit rating is trashed.
The credibility of the democrats and republicans now stands
no higher than the communist party of the old Soviet Union.
The fact that there are politicians who are still proud to
wear the republican or democrat label is a testament to
more sad, shameful delusion. It is time to discard party labels, grow up,
and stop letting dogma get in the way of applying
intelligence to solve problems and make America great.
Here should be the form for candidates to give feedback about
this web site, and how it can do more for them.
In the long run we'll need a way for independents to learn what
works and what doesn't work when running as an independent. One
good feature might be a candidate blog where candidates can
tell us about their experiences.
Not sure how to compile it, but it would sure be useful to have
links to reference material on campaign regulations, etc.
OK, there is no us really (maybe there will be someday). I'm just
little ol’ computer programmer Tom
Horsley who is disgusted with all the political parties and is
taking a shot at presenting a prototype of a web site that I hope can
be gotten off the ground to try and eradicate the disaster that
political parties have become.
Since I know computers and not politics, I figured my best shot
was to take a computer approach (but I sure hope I can get
someone to steal this concept and run with it, since I certainly
don't have the time or energy to do the kind of administration and
fund raising a real site like this would require).
This concept for this site was stolen from
ILoveSchools.com
News clippings about independent candidates would be a nice
feature to have on the site.
Historical articles documenting the follies of the
democrats and republicans over the years to remind folks
why they should vote independent.
It takes money to run this web site. Here is where we beg for
donations.
Maybe folks who won't donate outright might want to buy
stuff like bumper stickers, coffee mugs, framed political cartoons,
T-shirts, etc.
Odds are good that the Federal Election Commission will
come up with some reason to call this website illegal. Anyone
know a good election law expert who could volunteer to help?
What if we moved the whole web site operation out of the
country (a bit ironic)? Would it be able to operate then?
Should this site become successful and actually pose a threat
to the entrenched republican and democratic parties, I'm sure
sanctioned or unsanctioned hackers will try to disrupt it.
We could use some security experts to help prevent that.
Aside from legal and security help, I'm sure we will want
all sorts of other volunteers. Web design help, researching
laws and candidates, etc. Lots of things I haven't though of.
