Meatball SubSlightly complicated procedure for making a wonderful meatball sub: Small frozen Italian meatballs from Armour Sub rolls from Publix bakery Raos Mariana sauce Chunk of Parmesan cheese Put 5 frozen meatballs in air fryer at 320 degrees for 10 minutes (experimentation showed that 5 meatballs fit in one Publix sub roll). While those are heating up, grate as much Parmesan cheese as you'd like on your sub. Put 5 or 6 spoonfulls of the sauce in a microwave safe bowl, add a bit of oregano and basil (or whatever herbs you'd like), stir it up and microwave for 20 seconds. (I found that a 16 oz container of sauce lasted for six subs). Shape an aluminum foil boat around the sub roll to keep it on edge (because it is more convenient to eat if you slice the edge rather than the top of these rolls, but they flop right over without the support). Somewhere in there the air fryer will probably ask for you to turn the food, give the tray a shake to roll the meatballs around so they might heat up the other side. Slice the side of the sub roll open (a serrated paring knife works well for me) and put a spoonfull of sauce along the bottom. When the meatballs are heated, dump them from the air fryer tray into the bowl of sauce (try to avoid splashing :-). and spoon the sauce all over them. Then spoon them one at a time into the sub roll to fill it up with meatballs. Spoon any remaining sauce over the meatballs in the sub, then sprinkle the Parmesan over the sauce. Put the sub in its aluminum boat in the air fryer for two minutes at 350 degrees. At then end of that time, you'll have a wonderful meatball parm sub with a roll that got toasty and cheese that got melty. I must like these things because I keep making them even though I have to clean up the air fryer trays and cheese grater when I'm done. (Or maybe I just need to use up all the meatballs I got from the Publix two for one sale.) This is pretty much AIR FRYER MEATBALL PARM SUB but I filled in details and customized meatball count, etc. |
