Air Fryer Mushroom and Lentil Hand PieI thought this recipe for mushroom and lentil hand pies sounded tasty, but I didn't want to cook eight at one sitting, so I made the pies then froze them on sheet pans (then stashed them in a freezer bag). Now I need to discover how to cook them from frozen. Note: As simple as this seems, I managed to mess up quite a lot of pots and pans and wot-not which then needed to be cleaned. I should also have put parchment on the sheet pans before freezing since they got slightly stuck, so I had to clean the pans too. I want to be able to just cook one in my air fryer, so I'm trying 350 degrees for 30 minutes (the original recipe calls for baking the just made pies at 375 for 20 or 25 minutes). I turned the pie over at the 15 minute mark and it is certainly looking like it might come out quite well. The puff pastry is certainly puffing up like puff pastry does. I guess the only question will be if the interior is completed heated. I'll find out in a few minutes. Looks like it worked. The pastry is browned but not burnt and the interior registers a little over 200 on my Thermapen, so it seems plenty warm (hot enough to burn myself actually, I'll need to be careful about that). |
