Dirty Water Hot Dogs

Taste: Exceedingly bland.

Cleanup: Pretty simple.

Ingredients: All available at Publix

For the 4th of July holiday weekend, I thought I'd try Instant Pot Dirty Water Hot Dogs.

I only cooked a couple at a time, so to keep the dirty water theme going, I saved the water in a plastic container in the fridge between batches.

I followed all the steps, using Boar's Head natural casing all beef hotdogs.

The result was underwhelming. The hotdogs basically had no taste. They were edible, but just completely bland.

Another irritation is that every single brand of natural casing hotdogs comes in a pack that does NOT have 8 dogs in it. You either run out of buns or have leftover buns. I picked the Boar's Head because it had seven dogs in the package, which was as close to matching the bun count as I could get.

I've got a little microwave/oven combo machine that does a vastly superior job grilling the Nathan's skinless hotdogs I find to be infinitely superior in flavor.

I can't imagine ever trying this again, and only record this here to remind me to keep away :-).
